Wild caught Alaskan salmon might just be one of my favorite ways to get in good healthy ESSENTIAL fatty acids.  Omega 3s are just one of the many nutrients packed into this superfood!  With benefits like brain health, bone health and that research shows it may prevent ADHD in children, it’s no wonder this superfood is super important. 
I think salmon can be a love it or hate it food!  Lincoln goes through phases of liking it, so I try to get it in when I can, but not forcing it.  I don’t ever want Lincoln to have an adversion to salmon because it has too many health benefits that he would miss out on. 
I personally love mine pan seared in grass fed butter with sea salt. We spent the weekend island hopping with some great friends. Traveling can make it very difficult to remain dedicated to your health and wellness goals. You are quickly forced out of your routine without access to your go to foods or the ability to prepare them!
These are the times when I make exceptions. I pack what healthy foods we can take with us, but we also take this time to relax and indulge a bit.
The added stress of trying to be perfect with your food choices is too much!  It’s not about being perfect. It’s about making the right choices most of the time.

Busy night, but still found time to cook this simple meal!  Lincoln’s current favorite food is broccoli...yes, you heard that right...BROCCOLI! 🥦 I’ve been trying it different ways and roasted is our favorite!  Drizzle some avocado oil, sea salt and minced garlic.  Toss around and spread out on a baking sheet. Bake on 375 for about 15 minutes depending on how well done you want it. It is SO scrumptious!  I promise!  Next up is pan cooked chicken breast in bacon fat topped with a blue cheese cream sauce and crumbled left over bacon.  For the cream sauce, in a small sauce pan, melt 1 TBPS grass fed butter, add organic heavy whipping cream, sea salt, blue cheese crumbles, Parmesan cheese, and minced garlic. Bring to a boil stirring consistently. I recently donated blood and my iron levels were low, (I donate every three months and this was only the second time in my life that my levels were on the low end. The first time I was in university (20 years ago!) and I was trying out a vegetarian diet, but this time I thought back and realised my red meat consumption was WAY down. I had eaten some chicken and some tuna, but realistically I hadn't had a steak or any read meat in weeks!)

You can eat red meat and still have an iron deficiency. Some causes may be:
. * Insufficient absorption due to multiple factors like, reduced stomach acid, some medications, competing foods, hormonal imbalances, leaky guts, B12 deficiency, microbiome imbalances and others.
. * Increase demand like, heavy periods, heavy blood loss, alcohol, pregnancy, and others
.
If you are feeling flat or experience some of the deficiency symptoms you may need to reach out to a nutritionist to help you balance your dietary needs or iron for your individual needs.

Don't settle or less energy, find out why. It may have nothing to do with your iron levels, but then again it could!

I know I put this in my stories a few days ago but this needs to live here for prosperity. 
This being a healthy person has been the hardest yet most rewarding thing I have ever done. There is not one area of my life that hasn’t been affected by it. 
Most are SO much better and the areas that are strained; they are strained because there is growth and learning in progress. 
I am moving away from “loving” inanimate things but what I do LOVE is what this car represents for me; humility, honesty, hard work, joy, freedom, self love, compassion and beauty. 
Self love is a beautiful thing it is the gift only we can give ourselves ❤️ And when we do: Amazing things happen 🥝 @projecthealthybody_

So happy to be finished with my new cookbook, so that I can USE it! Dinner tonight. I cook for a few sensitivies in our family and this strategy works well, may work for picky eaters as well. I cook the veggies, meat and noodles separately. I put the cheese on for those that enjoy/can tolerate cheese once it's in the bowl. These are rice noodles for the gf person in our family. Everyone gets veggies whether you like it or not. This bowl has tomatoes, zucchini, spinach, eggplant and green onions. Our pickiest eater took out the eggplant and had to mix it with ketchup to make it tolerable for him. Despite the sugar in ketchup, I encourage them to make a way they can eat it. That way they still learn about the eggplant and get the nutrients. Maybe on another exposure he will eat it as is. Our pickiest eater also thought the sausage was too spicy so on went the ketchup for the sausage as well. He did end up eating the entire bowl by the end! What meals do you make to ensure everyone gets the nutrients they need to be refueled?

Do you ever break into a peach to discover the flavor is mediocre? 😔That happened to me this morning, and it was disappointing. The solution- cook them just a little with a pinch of cinnamon and ground ginger to soften and sweeten. Add to oatmeal with milk or yogurt and garnish with nuts. Yum! 🍑🧡

Dinner last night 🌿🥕🥒🥑🍳🌶
Attempted to make banh mi inspired bowls, not sure how close I got 😂 but it was good!
There was a cafe near our campground out west that had banh mi sandwiches (breakfast and lunch versions!) and I haven’t stopped thinking about them so that’s where this random inspo came from. (Pics to come of the food we got there. @sunflowercafemt, I love you.)

Here’s what we had last night:
- shredded cabbage, sauteed in avocado oil
- carrot ribbons (idk I cut them up like 3 ways on Sunday)
- sliced cucs
- pickled red onion (on everything)
- avocado
- fried egg
- spicy cashew cream
- green onion
- @traderjoes everything but the bagel seasoning

I have to say, I’m pretty proud of this egg.

P.S. This took 5 min to put together because everything was done from #mealprep except for sautéing cabbage and cooking the eggs!

I’ve been thinking about the popular motto “fail to plan, plan to fail.” I used to really connect with that saying, but it doesn’t resonate with me anymore. At this point in my journey, I don’t really plan, and I don’t write down my food. The reason is because after years of doing so, a bright line meal has become my default. This morning, even in my groggy pre-coffee state, I stumbled into the kitchen and wondered “what should I eat for breakfast?” and this is what I threw together in less than 15 minutes. Bright line meals just happen, all by themselves. I don’t say that to brag, but to show how the BLE lifestyle can really become an identity, and a new default, with enough time. Anybody else experience this kind of automaticity? ☀️
