November 21, 2019 - wiegand.waterrides GmbH received the IAAPA Brass Ring Award for the best new product concept. The award ceremony took place at the great IAAPA Gala last night in Orlando, Florida.
The new product is called SlideCoaster - a combination of roller coaster and water slide. It is the first coaster-waterslide-combination worldwide! This attraction was developed together with former employee Mr. Frank Heimes, who set up his own business with his company up & down Engineering. Mr. Heimes describes his development as follows: "How do you combine the spectacular thrill of a roller coaster with the ultimate fun of a waterslide? Imagine the moment when you sit in a roller coaster. The adrenaline goes up and you start getting nervous. But do not panic! After starting from 0 to 50 kmh in just a few seconds - with a maximum acceleration of up to 0.8 g - the intoxication continues in our high-speed water slide. You do not have to climb any stairs or carry a tire. Just get in one of the boats and be catapulted to the highest point where you can start the slide. "
The IAAPA Brass Ring Awards are the most prestigious professional honors awarded, marking achievements of excellence throughout the international attractions industry. The team of wiegand.waterrides is very proud to receive this recognition.
In 2018, the company, then still known as wiegand.maelzer GmbH, received 5 awards for the world's first SlideWheel and the Virtual Reality Slide. With the IAAPA Brass Ring Award for the best new product concept, the new management of wiegand.waterrides GmbH proves that the company continues to be one of the most innovative companies in the industry.
wiegand.waterrides GmbH is the only manufacturer to offer water slides in stainless steel and fiberglass as well as a combination of those materials.
