GI tags (Geographical Indication) are essentially used for products that have very specific geographical origin with qualities expressed in that particular area. GI tags can follow everything from food & herbs to paintings & fabric. Think about it as a "trademark". A producer can get higher value because no one else can use that name because the product originates only from that region specified and customers know its 💯 REAL.

Erode is the city in the state of Tamil Nadu....the turmeric has certain specifications such as size, width, growing conditions, curcumin levels, etc.
