Although the attitude is changing, society typically relates weight lifting with "getting big" and as a result many women are put off the idea. Not wanting to lift weights for fear of "getting too bulky" or "looking like a man".⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀

Meanwhile everyone's talking about all the benefits of weight training and how it'll change your life without thinking to tell women that they can get all these benefits too.⁣⁣ I regularly have ladies ask me how they can train without lifting weights, because they still see it as only being of benefit to guys.⠀⠀⠀

The chances of you picking up some weights and turning into Arnie are pretty slim. You're not going to drastically alter your body shape over night and you won't do it by accident either. So you can get that fear right out of your head.⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀

That's not to say however that you should lift weights if you don't want to. If you're happy to stick with cardio or whatever other exercise you do then by all means, stick with it. What’s the difference between these two pictures? The photo on the left: It was almost one year ago and I was constantly chasing a smaller and smaller frame. Chronic dieting, constant under eating, and obsession with food tracking. It created a not awesome relationship with food and obsession over working out and comparing myself to others. I was not a happy woman here. .

The photo on the right: that’s me today. Bigger than I’ve ever been in my entire life, massive gains in strength, zero food phobia, comparing myself to no one, and no obsession over any part of health and fitness. I eat when I’m hungry. I stop when I’m full. I lift when my body is ready and I rest when it isn’t. I look to myself to see what I want, when I want it, and how I want to do it. .

Im not posting this to try and front like this has been easy. This has been a process that I’ve gone through mentally, physically, and emotionally. I’ve worked my ass off to find a balanced lifestyle and make myself as strong as I can physically be. It’s a constant chase but now it’s a healthy one. One that I am proud of and not hiding any part of. So here I am today. Happy as a clam. Big ole booty to carry. And completely balanced in all the things. Hope this encourages you to stop hating your body and learn to listen to it. It’ll tell you what it wants and needs. Hint: it’s not a cleanse. It’s not a 30 day challenge. And it isn’t “avoiding sugar and grains.”
