UPPER-BACK & NECK RELEASE 🙌
Got a hard to reach spot that’s tight where your neck and back meet? This might do the trick for you. This trick will help you reach your Spinalis (1 of the muscles in your Erector Spinae group—AKA spine muscles) and your Splenius Cervicis muscles. This is especially useful if you do a lot of desk work, drive frequently and for long distances, or have to use your arms/neck a lot at work.
HOW TO DO IT
🎾 Take a tennis ball and find the spot near your spine at the top of your back or base of your neck.
🎾 Compress it against the wall and your back. You can move it up or down depending on what feels good and where you’re feeling tension.
🎾 I like to start from the proximal (higher) portion of the muscle and work my way towards the distal (lower) end.
🎾 While you’re pressing against the wall flex and extend your neck. Try tucking and untucking you’re chin. See how far you can bring your chin to your chest.
🎾 For a little extra “umph” you can rotate your head side to side or try tilting your head by bringing your ears to your shoulders.
🎾 Linger on any tender or sore spots you find. Remember to breathe!
