Throwback to this summer when Tara Khare, one of our founding members was invited to meet the Queen. We are all very proud of Tara, and all the amazing work she has accomplished within the community since 1976! Well done Tara ❤️ My day at Buckingham Palace - 25th June 2019
It was such a pleasant surprise and an honour to receive an invitation from Buckingham palace to attend a reception by The Queen on 25th June 2019. It was to celebrate the work of local Faith and Belief groups to promote Community Cohesion.
My nomination was from Faith & Belief Forum who had presented me with an award last year for services to and for Faith & Belief Communities in greater London Which in itself was a great honour. Over many years I have been involved with many community groups supporting Interfaith and community activities in Waltham Forest, especially as a founder of Forest Women’s InterfaithNetwork.
It was quite overwhelming, when we arrived at The Palace in the afternoon. My Friend Saira from @pl84u_alsuffa was also with me . We mingled with many other community activists from all over the country, as we gathered in the Blue Drawing Room for drinks and canapés and later we were presented to Her Majesty The Queen. The moment shall always remain with me. Those two hours at The Palace were of real joy and excitement. - 10 days ago
