🗳REGISTER TO VOTE🗳 And then vote.
In previous elections only 42% of people aged 18-24 voted. 75% of over 65s voted. The young have the power to swing the vote, all we have to do is register and then turn up. December 12th was chosen to suppress the student vote as most uni terms end on the 13th. Don't let them succeed. Circle it in your calendar.
REGISTER TO VOTE now. It's genuinely only takes 2 mins. You can register at your home and uni address, but you can only vote at one of them - so choose where wisely. You’ve got until 26th Nov. Have a Google and see if your uni or home constituency needs your vote more.
Then, depending on where you'll be you might need to apply for a postal vote or by proxy vote. This also takes 2 minutes and is on the same form as registering.
Look, I get it: politics is confusing as frick, it may feel like you're choosing between some less than ideal options, but if you’re eligible and don't vote in this election then don't complain about the repercussions of it. Those currently in power WANT you to feel so demoralised you don't bother. They WANT you to feel like your vote doesn't count. What they don't want is the young people of this country to turn out in full force to the polling stations.
So prove them fricken wrong and show them that you will show up. Vote like the people you love will be those affected worst by austerity. Vote with the climate crisis in mind. Vote for a fairer, more equal society. This is about SO MUCH MORE than just Brexit. Vote because, for many of us, people have genuinely died to give us this right.
Now share this information far and wide. Make sure everyone you know is registered to vote. Put a big fat circle around 12th December in your calendar and SHOW UP. If you need a reminder, save this post, set an alarm, do one of those holiday countdown clocks, arrange to go and vote with friends, whatever works!
