LEARNING NEW SKILLS
This weekend I went to @maarigold_ ‘s lifting meet. It inspired me to start practicing snatches again. I’m just trying to coordinate my movements, get my form right, and understand what it’s supposed to feel like. It requires practice because it’s not just about brute strength. The movement requires skill, and skill has to be developed.
👉🏼If there’s a skill-based movement/activity that you want to learn, don’t be discouraged if the first time you try it (and many more times after that) feels awkward and frustrating. It’s part of the learning process. It takes TIME.
👉🏼I was actually pretty frustrated today myself. It feels somewhat unnatural compared to the lifts that I’m used to doing.
👉🏼Don’t be afraid to not be good at something and don’t be afraid to let people see your learning process, awkward as it may be.
