Last weekend we enjoyed a child free weekend in Rye for a friend’s wedding, and I don’t feel like I shouted about this lovely town enough so here lies the opportunity.
We were due to stay at the @thegeorgeinrye but sadly a devastating fire earlier in the year has closed the hotel. We’ll just have to head back another time! Instead we were housed at the @ryelodgehotel which boats a nice viewpoint and Venetian pool and sauna.
Rye is a great place to wonder around the cobbled lanes lined with ivy coated medieval houses. What’s really noticeable here, is that the town is hugely dominated by independent businesses and retailers! 🙌🙌. There are a handful of recognisable High St shops but a vast number of independent restaurants and coffee shops, gift shops, art galleries and this is a GREAT place for antiques!
Favourite finds have to be @shepherdhutstudios - husband and wife team who sell original art work inspired by local and UK landscapes, as well as canvas prints and soft furnishings. The Tuscan is also a must visit for the best and truly authentic Tuscan cuisine that transported me straight back to Florence.
We even managed an 8k run on Saturday morning down to the lovely Camber Sands Beach, home to @thegallivant and back.
There is a lovely feel to this Historic Market town and one that the community are clearly very proud of.
