We have all heard the proverb of ‘half empty or half full.’ Some research claims the attitude towards life is more about our genes and predetermines whether we become optimists or pessimists.
Even if our genes do have a role in the outlook of life, we can still learn to become more optimistic.
Psychologists have long said optimists see opportunities whereas pessimists see obstacles. Although it may sound and look simplistic on the surface, it has an in-depth meaning.
When we look at opportunities and believe the results will be positive we tend to learn from our difficulties, step out of our comfort zones and take actions to sit through problems, search for answers and solve problems. This attitude helps them merge from setbacks and succeed faster. Whereas when we look at stumbling blocks, we tend to fall victim to negative thinking, procrastination and inaction. This attitude and leads to complicating the problem even further and adversely impacting the outcome.
Research suggests even our body language, our posture and the ability to laugh can have a positive effect on the way we see the world. As they say, ‘Laughter’ could be medicinal to our problems and could aid us in recovery. Optimists are generally good at creating positive habits and prioritising self-care. They accept themselves for what they are, listen to their inner voices and have better internal dialogues.
As Jim Rohn quotes “we are the average of five people we surround ourselves with”, take a look around at your inner circle and ensure you hang out with people who see the bright side.
Take a moment and reflect: are you a glass half full or talk empty person? #mindsetcoach #mindset #mindsetcoachingforwomen #mindsetcoaching #coachmindset #mindsetquotes #mindsetmatters #mindsetiseverything #mindsetreset #motivation #motivationalquotes #motivationalblogger #resiliencecoach #resiliencedesign #resiliencecoaching #successmindset #thinkbig #businessmind #startupstory #successmindsetcoaching #coachinglife #coachingtips #coachingmotivation #empoweringglobalwomen #womenempoweringglobalwomen #designingdestiny #resiliencelearned #friendshipfriday - 21 days ago
