There have been ongoing discussions of race everywhere, but especially in my knitting community. Things have gotten ugly, hateful and finally, violent.
I realize that many of my Instagram followers are not knitting friends, but whether or not we knit together, I want you to know that I value diversity, I’m glad you’re part of my community, I know we all have the capacity to learn, grow, change and accept one another. I hold myself AND you to a high standard, I make mistakes, I don’t always know it. I want you to tell me, and I will own them and apologize for them. I’ll probably feel embarrassed but try so hard to do better and I expect the same from you. I expect that you’re angry about things, I am too. Let’s work towards solutions. If you’re not here to learn and grow and be the best version of yourself you can be, and to help the rest of us be our best selves, this is no place for you. No violence in words or actions, no racism, no hatred. #raiseyourhandinsolidarity #knittersofinstagram #knitting - 4 months ago
