This collection is now hung in its new home (for now 😆) @mvc.life If you’re the kind of person that doesn’t mind reading long posts and you wanna know the back story, here ya go: •“ The Complete Beginning” •When I turned forty I started to think about my age. Something about that number made me take pause and reflect on my life thus far, things I’ve already accomplished and dreams still yet to be realized. If I’m honest, much of my musings were met with a feeling of disappointment. There’s so much life left to unpack and still so much to become and I’m not as far along in the journey as I hoped to be. But when I look at time from an eternal perspective, my expectations shift. Life and yearning for more is just beginning, and when I’m 99, there’s still more. Life in the kingdom is unending and hope-filled. When my children were babies I remember thinking, “What are they going to be when they grow up? What are the unique, God given gifts in there just waiting to be discovered”. I love to look at the elderly this way. Those faces, so full of experience, wisdom, and stories to tell, are also just getting started. Their abilities, giftings and dreams don’t end when their heart stops beating. When my beloved Grandma Lois passed away, I remember my dad telling me that she was met by Jesus who said to her, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” What I didn’t see as a child, is that her completion was also her beginning.
Some of these pieces are faces of people I’ve known and loved, some are strangers, but all have a story of yearning, struggling, submitting, transitioning, becoming, resting... and then beginning all over again. My hope is that, when you look at them, you are filled with an appreciation for a life well lived, and an anticipation for a story that is just starting to unfold, and just maybe a hope for your own story, wherever on its journey it may be.
