If you have been diagnosed with acid reflux, you probably have avoided specific foods and/or started taking acid reflux meds. However, your heartburn symptoms may persist if:You are still over-eating during a meal. Even if you are choosing healthier foods and avoiding spicy/sour foods, your stomach may need to produce more stomach acid to digest a large load of any kind of meal. Avoid skipping meals which often leads to just 1 large meal for the day (and possibly a meal that is more indulgent, higher in carbs and fat). Instead, try to have at least 2 to 3 smaller meals daily. And if you are dining out, consider cutting your portions down to ยฝ the amount, since restaurant portions are notoriously larger than necessary.

It occurred to me one day that you can go to the supermarket and buy stuffing any day of the year. Same applies to candy ๐Ÿซ, cookies ๐Ÿช, apple pie ๐Ÿฅง....pretty much any food that is usually associated with a holiday! Crazy right!? ๐Ÿคฏ โ

But when we only allow ourselves to have those foods on special occasions, it can lead to binging or overeating them when we finally get the chance! โ

I used to ONLY allow myself to eat my favorite Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. Then, I would eat them to the point of feeling physically sick ๐Ÿคข โ

Now that I give myself unconditional permission to eat my favorite foods whenever I want, I'm able to stop eating while I still feel great ๐Ÿคฉโ

Not only that, but shame and guilt after eating something โ€˜badโ€™ or eating too much certainly perpetuates the struggle.

For these two emotions I turn to EFT, or โ€˜tappingโ€™. This is an excellent โ€˜energy psychologyโ€™ tool that changes the state of your body/emotions by gently self-tapping on meridian end-points.

Another useful tool for prevention of shame and guilt is to arm yourself with inspiring images, look for diversity and unique beauty in people, and always remember that more than the shape or look of a body, itโ€™s our energy that people are drawn to or connect with.
