I get asked a lot how I 'manage it all' & honestly I don't think I do. I just try new ways to make each week work. Please know I forget half of my kids commitments & I pride myself on being organised, but damn I cannot keep up with the school & childcare updates some weeks. I'm either kicking goals with work & sucking at sustaining the parenting gig or killing it for a few days at parenting & missing an email project due date. I know I'm not superwoman, please don't think I am, I love that some of you tell me I am, but I'm not. No one is, and no one gets by just on their own without complete and utter burn out.
The biggest advice I can offer is if you don't have a village, build it. Outsourcing has been a massive hurdle I've had to cross. Being a self sufficient girl for most of my life, with a 'go hard or go home' work ethic it's all cultivated to make me a pretty stubborn & determined personality.
When Michael sat me down & suggested outsourcing many years ago, I argued why! How? and NO WAY!
Fast forward to this time last year in Bali for 2 months with 3 kids under 5. In Bali I was able to find some time to give back to me & #fiveminutesofmine was born, I worked 3 x 4hr days and enjoyed seriously special times with my kids. We had a nanny most days, we had a cleaner 6 days a week & we had a good majority of our meals cooked by someone else. I realised that these were pretty amazing goals. We all know Bali life isn't replicable back in Aus but the basics I have aimed to replicate this year.
Cleaning (currently once a week) ideally increase to a few shorter visits a week to assist with washing & house admin.
Help with the kids (some school pickups on my working days of the week)
Healthy meals 3-4 nights a week I don't have to make.#
I haven't quite reached this list yet, it's still a work in progress. But I started researching pre-made meal options a while back and @livesoulara was one I loved- plant based meals delivered fresh. It was a surprise when they asked me to try their meals. Some of my favourites were; Dahl Makhani, the Island Life Curry & you can probably tell but the choco delights were up there. #livesoulara #cscollab - 4 minutes ago
