Intermittent fasting won’t be your weight loss savior

You may have saw the segment on the TODAY show yesterday where Jenna and Hoda weighed themselves and decided to try intermittent fasting for weight loss and that it would suddenly help them lose weight
.
You’re enticed in with the magically promises that fasting will make your fat disappear
.
But IF will not be your savior and may not even work for you.
.
IF works when you’re in a calorie deficit but how do you know if you’re in a calorie deficit? Do you plan on tracking for the rest of your life?
.
What happens when your family wants to go out for breakfast but you can’t break your fast until 12, I guess you’re out of luck then
.
What happens when your friends want to go out to the bars at 9 but your fast starts at 8? No fun for you!
.
What happens when you’re not in a calorie deficit? You will maintain your weight even though you’re fasting.
.
Can you really see yourself sticking with fasting for the rest of your life? Probably not
.
We should be making changes that we can STICK WITH not just as a fad to “lose weight fast”
. 
Ask yourself that next time you start a diet, can I see myself doing this for the for the rest of your life? If no, then don’t do it

In the colder months, we absolutely LOVE making homemade soups & stews.  They are super simple to throw things in the crockpot and come home to dinner ready and waiting on you (AND leftovers freeze well too!). ⠀

After my thorough reheat testing, it was determined that 30 second microwave method was best (90 seconds if heating from frozen) - yes these QUINOA SCRAMBLE BREAKFAST MUFFINS  are freezer friendly and can be re heated FROM FROZEN. ⠀

The routine of someone that works in a 9-5 job can be tricky, given that when your shift finishes you are most likely going to feel too tired to work out and it also takes a lot of dedication to wake up at 6am everyday to get a gym session in before work. 🏋🏼‍♂️

Unfortunately, having such long shifts means you either have to sacrifice some relaxation time at home or sacrifice your workout, therefore I recommend training 3x per week following either a full body, upper/lower or push/pull/legs split. 📈

Take a prepped meal in to work with you to eat on your lunch break, along with some healthy snacks that include protein. ✅

For real, we all want MORE time in our day. 24 hours just never seems like enough. ⁣
⁣
We are running to / from kids’ activities all day long 🏀 but still want to get in a workout 🏋️‍♀️ and make a healthy dinner 🥘 and start Christmas shopping online 🎁 and watch some reality TV 📺 and . . . and . . . and (the list goes on & on).⁣
⁣
So what can we do to make the MOST of our time?⁣
⁣
Follow these steps to utilize those waking hours more efficiently.⁣
⁣
1️⃣ BRAIN DUMP - make a list 📝 put it ALL on there. ⁣
⁣
2️⃣ PRIORITIZE - figure out what is urgent - that has deadlines and must get moved to the top of the list. Or what needs to be done 1st before other things on this list (example: meal plan has to come BEFORE grocery shopping)⁣
⁣
3️⃣ BATCH your to-dos. Pick one day for running errands, one day for laundry, one day for scheduling appointments and calling Aunt Betty, one day for meal prepping, etc. ⁣
⁣
4️⃣ Pick 3 things to get done each day. Sorry, I know you want to do ALL in one day, but that’s not realistic. Three is manageable and will keep you from feeling overwhelmed.⁣
⁣
Pull out a piece of paper (or use the notes section of your phone 📲) and do your brain dump NOW! 👍🏼⁣

Woah is thanksgiving actually next week? Totally crept up on me. Time is seriously flying and this baby is going to be here in just a few short weeks! ⠀

To get us in Turkey mode we’re featuring my all time favorite turkey roast recipe with miso and apricot in next week’s prep. A turkey roast is so much easier to handle than a full turkey and I honestly can’t recommend this one enough.  Plus you can even make it in the @cookmellow sous vide for an even juicer and simpler preparation. ⠀
