The non-profit fashion label, @thelalelascarf has an incredible cause the @lalelaproject that’s worth reminding everyone about. We love the dedicated founder @akerzner the moment we met her. 🧡
Carmen has a strong connection and admiration for the work of Andrea and the Lalela team. She had the pleasure to spend time with the talented and creative people in charge, that try to guide and help the children that live and go to school in one of the most dangerous areas of South Africa. She will never forget how safe the children, the team and Andrea made her feel when she was in the dangerous parts of suburban Cape Town. On reflection, Carmen also recalls being very impressed by the children’s inner strength, strong self-esteem and pride in showing her their homes and artwork. For this reason, it’s confirmed that the Lalella creative programs really do work.
All the artwork shown on The Lalela Scarf products are made from the children’s creative drawings. Lihle, a 17-year-old student and designer has expressed that there are “more African authentic styles still to be explored and shared with the world”. The classes help the children develop their imagination and core life-skills while providing them with a safe and secure solace for those vulnerable to abuse. This is a direct and beautiful way that you can support life-changing art and amazingly, for every 24 scarves sold one whole classroom is funded. We can’t wait to check out the latest Autumn collection.🍁✨🧣#lifechangingart #lalelaproject #southafrica #inspiration #community #art #creativity #nonprofit #education #innovation #learning - 7 days ago
