When do we actually allow ourselves to face our fears?
I consider Climbing and Yoga rather as catalysts for the process, not as ways to overcome your fears themselves. If the adrenaline kick is the only thing you are after, you could miss out on other, longer lasting effects after your practice.
After challenging ourselves on the rocks/on the yoga mat we might feel invincible and finally dare to:
- apply for that new job
- make the first move on the person we have liked for a while
- dare to dress authentically
- speak about our feelings
... And so on
Maybe not all of it and not right away, but bringing yourself in a position where your feel vulnerable and uncomfortable - even scared- and then get through it, there is a chance that you are going to feel empowered in other situations in your life as well.
