Saving my favourite photo and story for last:
As afternoon began preparing for evening, enveloping the tiny town in golden light, people from all four corners of the island migrated to one spot to watch what promised to be an epic sunset. As the sun began its slow shimmy into the Aegean Sea, I turned around to take in the monstrous crowds and that’s when I saw them by chance.
Two stunning young women, standing side by side, sporting almost identical haircuts and halter dresses. Everyone else around them busied themselves with filling up their camera rolls, desperate not to miss a second of the sunset, yet time seemed to stand still for these two. They were gazing sweetly into each other’s eyes, and gently running their hands through the other’s hair.
To this day, I still think of this moment as one of the purest expressions of love I’ve seen. Two people standing in front of the world’s most celebrated sunset, and being so smitten they only had eyes for one another- as if each were the other’s sun, and moon, and entire world.
