But more importantly a bronze medal in the squat with 235kg @ 82bw closing on the 3 x bodyweight squat!

An unfortunate day for Odyssey's hardest working, most dedicated member. @nathankeenan_ came into the meet on huge training numbers and sadly at the bottom of his 2nd attempt squat, he suffered an IT Band tear... And still managed to stand up with 240kg. This injury ultimately ended his day.

The most admirable part of it all, was only a couple of hours later while experiencing alot of pain, Nathan was already doing feet up bench in the gym and talking about coming back better than ever. And we have no doubt he will be.

Didn't think this was going to happen when I unracked the bar, but then I heard @philiftsophy 's reminder: "niet zo lui zijn, gewoon doordouwen!" (Don't be so lazy, keep going) So that's what I did and as the commentator said it went up cm by cm hahah 🔥 swipe for the video

Long post ahead, but it's worth it. 
So yesterday I competed in a powerlifting meet for the first time. It's something I have had on my mind for around 2-3 years now. I always found some excuses to not compete and tried to save it for the "perfect moment". Now I've kind of learned that there are no perfect moments. So after starting to get back to myself from a strength and training perspective, I decided that I should just try and run a template, track my progress and perhaps from that I will be able to structure my own program afterwards. Well, as the program went on, problems arised and I had to modify the programming of the squat and bench, but on the Deadlift it remained the same. Around a month into the program this meet was published and the date was due a day after my birthday, and about a week after the program would have ended. Now I saw this a great opportunity, because it would also be a great birthday gift and celebration, and I was planning to do a 1rm test so why not do it in competition where the stage is all set just for that? I signed up for it, I honestly had many thoughts of withdrawing from it as it neared. It's good that my friends helped me stay focus and push me to compete. So here I am at the meet, squat was pretty shit, my opener kind of sucked, I smoked that same weight this Sunday (!). I also felt an unusual pop in my back and one of my nagging pains flared up. I went into my second attempt, and I soon as I unracked the bar, I knew it wasn't right, so I racked it and gave up on the squats. I didn't really mind, I was kind of happy that maybe I'll have more left in the tank for Deadlifts. Bench went relatively well for me. And then started warming up for Deadlifts, I felt a pretty sharp pain in my back with only 130kg! But I knew it could be better, so I put on my belt and did some reps with 160, didn't feel anything and and the bar flew up. The last warm up with 237.5 felt pretty slow, and I also realized I don't have much time until my first attempt 🤦. First attempt was 260(shown) was so fast! Everyone was in shock and so was I. Squats fra i forgårs: 5x7 med 185 kg.
Uden tvivl det hårdeste, jeg længe har lavet. 🥵
Selvom jeg har været medlem af @pfmdenmark siden juli, var dette første gang, jeg squattede med en IPF-godkendt Eleiko stang. 😅
Såvel stativet som selve platformen og i øvrigt også bare lokalet i det hele taget, var ligeledes nyt for mig. Endvidere var det første gang i 3 års tid at jeg squattede uden spejl, hvilket i øvrigt kun er godt for mig at vænne mig til. 👍🏼
På videoen ses sæt nummer to, men der havde nok i virkeligheden været mere underholdningsværdi i at se de resterende sæt, for der var kraftedeme kamp til stregen. 😂⚔️
Ja ja.
