معمولا جغد شب ها بیدار است و روز ها می خوابد.
 بعضی از آدمها هم همین طور هستند، فرد مبتلا ممکن است از هر سنی بخصوص سنین جوانی باشد. عاشق شب هستند، و روزها می خوابند. این افراد مناسب کارهای شبانه هستند. اگر لازم باشد صبح بیدار باشند خسته، عبوس و کم تمرکز می شوند. خواب و بیداری آن ها با بقیه هماهنگ نیست، برای همین در کار و روابط اجتماعی با مشکل مواجه می شوند و بازدهی کمتری دارند.
به دلیل اشکال ساعت درونی، مغز این افراد فرمان شروع خواب را با تاخیر صادر می کند. در طولانی مدت ریسک بیماری های قلبی عروقی در این افراد بالاتر است. الگوی خواب جغدی قابل درمان است.

The last thing I had to do to the Dreamcast was replace the internal battery.  This keeps the consoles clock from resetting every time you turn the console on.  Also change the controller board capacitor (possible dry cap). Cheap £5 mod plus a rechargeable battery.  This replaces the soldered in permanent rechargeable battery with the convenience of a slot to make replacement easy.  There is also a resettable fuse added incase for any reason it blows you can switch the console off for 30sec and it will then start working again.  Fresh battery’s in the VMU so no long beep on start up, the console is now totally silent.

تا به حال پیش آمده که ساعت خود را برای بیدار شدن در زمان معینی تنظیم کنید؛ اما درست قبل از آنکه زنگ بخورد خودتان بیدار شوید؟ 
وقتی داشتید ساعت را تنظیم می کردید، مغز شما ساعت درونی خود را نیز تنظیم کرده است. این ساعت که در هیپوتالاموس قرار دارد، فعالیت های مختلف بدن از جمله خواب، بیداری، ترشح هورمونی و فشار خون را تنظیم می کند. بیدار ماندن بیش از حد و قرار گرفتن در معرض نور در هنگام شب می تواند به تنظیمات این ساعت صدمه بزند. به هم خوردن تنظیمات ساعت درونی علائمی مثل خواب آلودگی روزانه، بیخوابی، تپش قلب، اضطراب، مشکلات گوارشی و کاهش تمرکز را در پی دارد.
تشخیص این اختلال مهم است؛ چون علائم سایر بیماری ها را تقلید می کند و درمان آن با سایرِ اختلالاتِ مشابه، کاملا متفاوت است.
