#Jamun we have several childhood memories associated with it.
This tasty fruit...which wikipedia describes as follows: " Syzygium cumini, commonly known as Malabar plum, Java plum, or black plum, is an evergreen tropical tree in the flowering plant family Myrtaceae. It is native to the Indian Subcontinent, adjoining regions of Southeast Asia, China and Queensland." The black purple, pink, magenta shades of this fruit can easily bring several stories associated to childhood tantrums of #Indian people. As a child or rather till teen age I don't remember buying this fruits. It was available in plenty. Almost every city, town and village had its trees in abundance and summer vacations of us went in gathering, plucking or bartering these delicious fruits. They were great time play also in the long heated summers of India...be it Punjab, UP, Gujarat or Karnataka... I could recall playing around these Jamun trees and climbing them in hunt for these delicacies. Its rare now, select stores or orchards have them only. In my own village their trees are numbered... Change came, yet glad the pleasure to eat them with nostalgia remains the same.
