Do you manage your time or does time manage you? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It can feel like other people run on a different clock than we do; that they somehow get more hours in a day. How else are they able to do ALL that they do, and still look great doing it?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is no magic formula or invisible time lottery system. We all get the same 24 hours. More likely than not, those people have help built into their day and/or have mastered the art of time management which is a skill that needs to be practiced but not obsessed over. Like most things in life, there is a balance to it. Tip the scale to an extreme and it becomes untenable. It’s helpful to create structure and prioritize tasks. It’s empowering to be aware of goals and action items, consciously crafting your schedule without over-scheduling yourself to the point of exhaustion. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Stick to your training schedule and trust in your training and the taper. Being a triathlete and training for numerous races I have always incorporated a form of walking in my routine. I plan to continue this practice as well come Saturday. When I first started back to running I was running a 30:30. Losing weight on this program, I quickly improved my running pace to run a 4:1. For those that don’t know that is 4 minutes of running and 1 minute walking. This is an easy way of incorporating walking into your running training and repeat until you finish the distance you are running. Looking forward to race day!!! Have a great day friends!

Why am I talking about kindess in my health and wellness page?  Well, we have come to look at health in a very compartmentalized way — heart problems, go see a cardiologist, hormones, endocrinologist, etc.  But health is holistic: mind, body and spirit.  Longevity has been directly linked to belonging.  Kindness is at the heart of that.  When we are kind to strangers, when we are kind to one another and to ourselves, we feel a sense of belonging that feeds the emotional hunger. We can then rely less on food for comfort.  It all adds up.  Be kind today,  everyone is fighting a battle we know nothing about.

For a long time I didn’t wear “basic” tee shirts because I didn’t think my body looked good in them...⠀

I filled my closet with dresses that hung loosely over my whole body, in order to hide my curves and that extra bit of love I carry in my hips and belly. ⠀

But now if I see something I think is cute - basic or not - I wear it and *choose* to feel confident in it. ⠀

Now I dress to be the person I want to be, not to hide the person that I am. ⠀

Are you an early riser or do you struggle in the mornings? 
I want to invite you to try an experiment.  First of all, you can pick the time frame -- but I suggest picking 3, 5, or 7 days.

For whatever time frame you pick, rise with the sun those mornings.
It may be uncomfortable to get up that early at first, but this is simply an experiment to see what shifts in you as you take this extra time in the morning for yourself.  There is one crucial thing: no electronics.  Use this time to bundle up outside on the porch (if you have one) to see the colors the sky displays as the sun rises.  Use it as a little recharge for yourself in the morning.

My base for marinara sauce changes every time I make it. I don't know if I'm lacking consistency, or just refuse to measure anything out. I really think it's just pure laziness. But in an effort to shove as many vegetables in my family as possible, I take every opportunity to empty my fridge into a big pot. ⁠

It's the simplest of dinners. Sauté a ton of veggies, add fresh tomatoes (or canned), and blend it up. Done. Serve over MORE roasted vegetables, brown rice, quinoa or, in this case, spaghetti. I haven't met a toddler yet who doesn't like spaghetti night. Just be sure to follow up with bath night. ⁠
