I’m taking an extended rest period until I start my new training block on Monday. It got me thinking. In the world of sport we often talk about rest days, recovery and refeeds. But isn’t this something we should carry through to other areas of our life? Are we feeding our creativity? Do we need to take a break from something that drains us emotionally and mentally? I saw this picture and felt inspired to make better use of my rest time this week, I’ll be catching up on unfinished books, getting though my podcast list and MAYBE even blowing the dust off my canvases and paintbrushes!! (As for a social and sensory break I’ll just keep avoiding actual human contact TY 💁🏽‍♀️)

Most of the common compound back exercises will somewhat activate all those muscle groups but naturally target a specific region mainly which is an important circumstance to consider when setting up your program with exercise choices.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

➕ Great exercises for the lats are chinups or pullups, dumbbell rows and their variations as well as lat pull downs at the machine.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➕ When thinking about the complex middle region exercises like barbell rows (and their variations), T-Bar rows as well as cable rows should be your first choice when programming for this back region.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You can replace chin ups with deadlifts if you prefer doing deadlifts on back day rather than leg day!  Some people like to do deadlifts on leg day others like it to do them on pull day ! Just switch chin ups with deadlifts if you want and put Deadlifts 1st in the exercise order✌

Do around 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps, focus on your speed and technique to really feel the muscles when you’re training the back! -
