On our healing journey, we will meet our greatest challenge: our own ego.
Nothing external can compare to the power of our ego. It is a story teller. Constantly running a stream of stories about who we are and what we are capable of doing.
This is protection. Our ego is desperate to protect us from any danger. So it attempts to keep us in our familiar repeating the same habits, patterns, and behaviors.
Because of this the ego often sabotages our own healing journey.
It does so by putting up a mental resistance of epic proportion.
It will use time, our own fears, our own low self worth to keep us locked into our past.
When I hear the word ‘overwhelm’ or ‘time’, I know there’s an ego battle going on. I know this because my ego consistency brings me this story. I know it’s a story because I’m always capable investing 10 minutes in myself. I know it’s a sorry because I can both be overwhelmed AND do the work.
So I witness these stories. I observe them. Then, because I view them as a story rather than a truth, I watch them fade away. They come and go. And I do work to thank my ego for its protection.
Then, I make a choice.
When doing the work, everything above is going to come up. Breathe. Take breaks. Continue doing the work.
Your ego seeks to protect, and healing by nature requires us to step out of that illusion of protection. Do the work #selfhealers - 32 seconds ago
