It's been about a month since I got to Italy.
I've been aiming to get here for a long time, since I've been to Rome 3 years ago I know that I've only sampled the country and I felt like this trip, with the motorcycle and basically unlimited time, will be the way to do it.
This picture to me is a lot of Italy, small town kind of in the middle of nowhere, amazing views, amazing buildings, little to no tourists and most importantly - the people.
This guy took his Vespa and drove to the park, and just sat there, for how long I don't know, at least an hour.
No phone in his hand, no book, nothing. Just sit and take in the day.
Not falling a sleep now at 4 am gives me the opportunity to reflect on the last month and to try and process why do I love this country so much.
Not sure that I can answer it. Of course the food helps. But that's not it. The people are nice, but I can say it about many of the countries I've visited. The buildings, the history, the organized chaos, Not sure.
I've said that before but I can't stress it enough - Italy can not really be treated as one country for a traveler. You can divide it to North, Rome and South but that's also a bit to simplified.
Every district in Italy is another story. All the ones I've visited so far are special and should be visited...
Maybe when you'll be there you could help me understand what's so special for me here. - 19 hours ago
