COMFREY & POSTPARTUM
Comfrey is a powerful medicinal herb that grows abundantly in my garden. It heals the skin very well and is ideal for bruises, sprains, and minor cuts and scratches. I love it in a lip balm, salve, or as a compress.
Comfrey is amazing for postpartum healing. For new mommas, make this deep healing bath after birth. It is antiseptic and astringent and is perfect for healing trauma to the perineum.
DEEP HEALING POSTPATUM BATH
1 ounce dried comfrey leaf
1 ounce yarrow blossoms
1 ounce dried rosemary leaf
½ ounce myrrh powder
6 cloves of garlic
½ cup of sea salt
Mix the comfrey, yarrow, rosemary, and myrrh together and keep stored in a jar with a tight closing lid. To make the bath, add your peeled garlic cloves to a blender with 1 cup of water. Blend well and strain with a fine mesh strainer. Then, boil 2 quarts of water. Turn off the heat and add 1 ounce of your herbal mixture to the water. Let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain out the herbs and add your garlic “milk” and herbal tea to the bath along with ½ cup of salt.
POSTPARTUM YONI HERBAL STEAM
Comfrey is also fantastic for postpartum vaginal dryness. You can make a yoni herbal steam as well using other healing postpartum herbs. Comfrey promotes strong, flexible, healthy, and functional vaginal tissues.
Combine comfrey, calendula, rose, lavender, rosemary, plantain, yarrow, witch hazel, and myrrh powder and keep stored in a jar with a tight closing lid. To make the yoni steam, boil 8 cups of water and add a few tablespoons of the herbs to the water. Steep for 5-10 minutes. Then pour the water and herbs into a bowl. Place the bowl on a flat surface, cover your lap with a towel, and sit over the steam. The steam has medicinal properties of the herbs will moisturize and heal the vaginal walls.
