I am in the middle of an IBS flare up/attack. I haven’t experienced one this bad in a while. It started (I think) Monday. I knew the signs, bloating/distended stomach, uncomfortable, cramping, sharp stabbing pains. I didn’t think too much of it Monday, I just thought I ate something that wasn’t agreeing with me and I would feel better the next day. But, on Tuesday I was feeling much worse and then I knew this wasn’t going away easily or quickly. I felt really bad, but decided to stay at work and just tried to focus on my work (instead of stressing about my stomach, which would have just made my stomach worse). I was having much worse sharp stabbing pains and cramps, I just wanted to curl up in the fetal position. I luckily have a prescription from my gastroenterologist that help alleviate stomach pains/cramping/spasms called hyoscyamine sulfate, so I took some at work on Tuesday (and today), and it has helped a bit. I’m still trying to figure out what caused this attack/flare up. Maybe my lunch? Dinner from the night before? Stress? I don’t know. All I know is, I can only take things one day at a time right now. I am just trying my best to get through each day, doing my best to meet my body where it’s at. Doing my best to listen to my body. Doing my best to not let it stress me out. Doing my best to keep up my everyday responsibilities. Doing my best, one day at a time. .
