Without doubt, this is one of my favourite conceptual images of the series. Before I start expressing it's intentions, wondering what you lots take is on it..
What do you see / What's going on?
All answers welcome..
General info on the project -
Sea; the remains between' is an extension of my on going World Under Water (WUW) series which looks at silenced socio-political realities we're not talking about on land, represented underwater. Like with most of my work, this series is informed by conversations, experiences, and collaborations with people from local communities, in this case Hull & the surrounding region. It evolved through connections, improvisations and sharing lived realities, particularly from communities that are often overlooked by mainstream media & society. It centralises neglected realities by reflecting on traces of what was in order to help redirect conversations towards what is - exploring how we impact each other & our surroundings.
Sea; the remains between was commissioned by Invisible Dust @invisible_dust in partnership with the Ferens Art Gallery @ferensartgallery for Surroundings, a three-year artistic project produced by the Humber Museums Partnership in partnership with Invisible Dust. It is funded by the Arts Council @aceagrams and the Welcome Trust @wellcomecollection
