Pulling out a new book this week!
Sometimes trying a new thing is hard.
When I picked this one up, I kinda knew I was gonna have some opinions…it just didn’t feel like it was gonna be something I clicked with!
And I went ahead and did it anyway.
Why? Why did I go for a book in which I felt I’d likely have judgments about what the author says?
BECAUSE I knew I was feeling judgmental. And I had NO business feeling that way.
These are lingering HIGH SCHOOL prejudices, guys!! Some of the things she talks about in this book are a big deal to HER, but me sitting on the sidelines I feel myself wanting to be like YOU BIG BABY!! And I need practice seeing people where they are, and acknowledging how hard whatever they’re going through feels to them!
Just as I want people to do as they come across MY work.
Your life struggles are different from everyone else’s. They may be on an objective scale, worse or easier.
But so freaking what?? The whole rest of the story is useful, but what’s MORE important is how you feel about it!
We ALL are afraid of being excluded, being judged, being rejected, missing out, being alone!
And when we set apart someone else, we are INSTANTLY setting apart ourselves!
Don’t be the one to start that chain!
So I read the book. And I put myself in HER shoes, so I can hear her messages more effectively.
Because guys, they’re the same!
They’re just coming out of someone else’s experiences.
