A bistro in St Mary's Street, near the Scottish Storytelling Centre, on Wednesday morning. This page in the lightweight A5 sketchbook has been used to test some marker pens before donating them to the Scrap Store at the Granton Hub, so it was covered in blocks, blotches and scribbles of bold and subtle ink colours.
You can probably spot some: the hot pink rectangle near the top left, purple down the page and to the right, yellow underlying the counter display on the right.
It was quite a challenge to incorporate this into my sketch, but I was helped by cafe features like the brightly-coloured lampshades and the bottles and flowers. I do love setting challenges like these.
Why I picked Imperial Purple ink to do the main sketching, no-one knows. *It's fun to draw with, and happily gives up lots of colour to the waterbrush.
The cafe also has a nice wee courtyard sitooterie at the back, for warmer days than this.
