La Chambre Blanche needed a thermal blind which would black out the sun rise in the morning. After all our rental guests don’t necessarily want to get up at the same time as the morning sun rise. .
This was my first attempt at screen printing on Series 1 of Escape to the Château DIY of April 2017. What a learning curve I went through. I’m always willing to give anything a go, but sometimes I forget things aren’t always as easy as the look 🙈. .
Big mistake.......I used a negative template, which would have resulted in the reverse of what you see.......a lot a black. .
The pressure of doing these things on camera, certainly makes you think on your feet. As a result, the ink wouldn’t dry on the template and was never going to. So I placed a piece of transparency on top of the wet ink, taped it together so it didn’t smudge. Often new techniques are discovered by accident. This was my accident, which I ended up loving. The process of putting two pieces of transparencies together with wet ink, caused the ink to splodge and create a mottled effect. Therefore, giving my print an aged effect. I hope our guests like it. - 5 hours ago
