Felt cute today in my new sweater and double tucked french braids.
I don't post much on here and I'm wondering if being an Instagram #teacher isn't really my thing. I don't produce a lot of my own teaching content, I'm not super great at everything I do, and I never remember to take pictures of ANYTHING. Plus, my phone camera is old and junky.
On the other side of the coin, I feel like I might find a teacher community I relate to if I stick around. Groups of teachers who aren't also fitness coaches and entrepreneurs and 8 other things. Teachers who don't always have the cutest fonts or laminate every thing or have perfectly cut worksheets. Teachers who don't have the energy to do this work every day and also go back to school or...whatever.
But also, teachers who connect with their students every day. Teachers who keep the raggedy scribbled on scrap sheet of paper and post it because that exit slip had a deep insight, even if it wasn't cute. Teachers who don't constantly produce new content but who know how to borrow and combine and update and modify the amazing resources from others so that they suit their classroom. Teachers who avoid paying out of pocket at all costs but who make their rooms inviting with basic furniture and bulletin supplies, not because it's pinterest worthy, but because the students have moved the furniture to suit their learning needs and their work covers every surface of that room.
I don't know. There is room in this world for every kind of teacher and I'm okay being the 2nd type most of the time. I think we need to be represented more. I wonder if I can contribute to that?
