I’ve teamed up with one of my favorite places in town, @devilsfooddenver. A true staple of Wash Park in Denver, they’ve been around for 20 years but have kept pretty quiet and unassuming just putting out an amazing product in an adorable, timeless space. They’ve never worried much about advertising or PR, or professional photography for that matter. I feel like I ran around in circles all day and I didn't really manage to get any of the items of my long to-do list done. Super green immune-boosting soup recipe 🍵🍵🍵! With a heavy hand of garlic, tenderstem broccoli, watercress, basil and a good chicken stock this is full of vitamin C from the DLGs, gut-strenthening collagen from the stock, and lots anti-viral action from the garlic/ginger...basically sip on this all week and you'll bug-proof yourself (in theory!!). Topped with toasted nuts and seeds for good fats crucial for happy hormones and skin 😇, leftover roast turnips (delish and so seasonal) and preserved lemon 👍. R E C I P E
• Sauté 1 onion in 1 tbsp of coconut oil until soft (I add a tbsp of water if drying out)
• Add in 4 cloves of chopped garlic and 5cm ginger, peeled and chopped and cook for 1 minute. • Take 200g tenderstem broccoli and chop off the floret , reserving for later. Chop the stalks into 1cm pieces and add to the pot. • Pour over 600ml chicken or vegetable stock and bring to a gentle simmer.
• When the stalks are just cooked take off the heat and add in the florets, 100g watercress and 10 leaves of basil, stirring to wilt in the residual heat.
• Cool a little then blend until smooth.

I just realized one of my favorite autumn patio dinners would be the perfect accompaniment to turkey and mashed potatoes - making it a fabulous Thanksgiving side dish!
It's a multi-layered blend of flavors with sweet autumn pears, figs and delicata squash grilled alongside bitter radicchio and broccoli rabe then laid atop a bed of sturdy greens. Salty grilled halloumi and oil-cured olives join the party before being drizzled with a zippy herbaceous dressing.
AND you can cook it all on the grill, freeing up your already over crowded Thanksgiving oven!
~The addition of halloumi elevates this to a main course but feel free to leave it out if you're making this as a side, or to make it vegan.

Serves 2 as a generous main course or 4 - 6 as a side.

Ingredients ~
A few handfuls of a mix of sturdy greens, like baby mustard, frisee, mache, kale and spinach.
1 delicata squash, halved, seeds removed and sliced into half moons
1 bunch broccoli rabe or broccalini, dry ends removed
1 head radicchio, quartered
1 red pear, cored and sliced
6 figs, halved
4 oz halloumi ~ if using
Small handful of oil-cured olives
High heat oil for grilling, such as avocado or grapeseed.

~Make the Fresh Herb Dressing first - recipe in comments.
~Scatter the greens over a platter and drizzle with a little of the dressing. Set aside.
~Coat the squash, broccoli rabe, radicchio, pear and figs in a very light coat of oil and grill over a low flame until each is lightly cooked and has grill marks.  If you prefer, use an outdoor grill pan to keep them from slipping through the grate. The figs and pear slices will only need a minute or so to cook, the radicchio and broccoli rabe about 3 - 4 minutes per side but the squash should be cooked on a grill pan for about 8 - 10 minutes per side to ensure they're fully cooked. They should be easily pierced with a fork when done.  Alternatively you can roast them in a 425° oven for 20 - 25 minutes.
~Slice the halloumi into 1/2 inch slabs, coat with oil and grill for about 2 - 3 minutes per side, until grill marks appear and it's warm and soft.
~Scatter the grilled veggies, fruit, halloumi and olives over the greens, drizzle with dressing.

I just realized one of my favorite autumn patio dinners would be the perfect accompaniment to turkey and mashed potatoes - making it a fabulous Thanksgiving side dish! It's a multi-layered blend of flavors with sweet autumn pears, figs and delicata squash grilled alongside bitter radicchio and broccoli rabe then laid atop a bed of sturdy greens. Salty grilled halloumi and oil-cured olives join the party before being drizzled with a zippy herbaceous dressing. AND you can cook it all on the grill, freeing up your already over crowded Thanksgiving oven! ~The addition of halloumi elevates this to a main course but feel free to leave it out if you're making this as a side, or to make it vegan. 🌱 Serves 2 as a generous main course or 4 - 6 as a side. 🍂 Ingredients ~ A few handfuls of a mix of sturdy greens, like baby mustard, frisee, mache, kale and spinach. 1 delicata squash, halved, seeds removed and sliced into half moons 1 bunch broccoli rabe or broccalini, dry ends removed 1 head radicchio, quartered 1 red pear, cored and sliced 6 figs, halved 4 oz halloumi ~ if using Small handful of oil-cured olives High heat oil for grilling, such as avocado or grapeseed. 🍂 ~Make the Fresh Herb Dressing first - recipe in comments. ~Scatter the greens over a platter and drizzle with a little of the dressing. Set aside. ~Coat the squash, broccoli rabe, radicchio, pear and figs in a very light coat of oil and grill over a low flame until each is lightly cooked and has grill marks. If you prefer, use an outdoor grill pan to keep them from slipping through the grate. The figs and pear slices will only need a minute or so to cook, the radicchio and broccoli rabe about 3 - 4 minutes per side but the squash should be cooked on a grill pan for about 8 - 10 minutes per side to ensure they're fully cooked. They should be easily pierced with a fork when done. Alternatively you can roast them in a 425° oven for 20 - 25 minutes. ~Slice the halloumi into 1/2 inch slabs, coat with oil and grill for about 2 - 3 minutes per side, until grill marks appear and it's warm and soft. ~Scatter the grilled veggies, fruit, halloumi and olives over the greens, drizzle with dressing. #lettuceflourish - 9 hours ago

Chai spiced pear and parsnip cake, my favourite bake to date on The Mother Cooker. This DELICIOUS cake reminds me of a carrot cake. Spicy, moist and topped with nuts. These are the potato gnocchi gnocchi “alla Sorrentina” Sorrento style gnocchi that I’ll be serving for you tomorrow. Soft potato gnocchi with a light tomato and basil sauce, then topped with buffalo mozzarella and baked for a few minutes till it becomes heavenly. 
Also on the menu for you to try I’ll be making a stew with calamari and chickpeas. Such a delicious and delicate combo this is, a typical dish of our area and one which I know you’ll love it.
Then torta salata, a sort of pie filled with broccoli and smoked Scamorza cheese. Real, rustic, home cooking here.
Then to finish a plate of speck naturale, the fantastic cured, and lightly smoked, speck from Massimo Corra in Trentino, Italy, one of my favourite producers. The speck will be served my my homemade sourdough bread.

The other pasta will be served  with salsiccia e funghi, Italian sausage and mushrooms.
To finish a coffee and almond meringues.
