Our bodies are born with excellent insulin signalling capabilities which keep our blood glucose at safe and mostly optimum levels for health and well being.
We were never designed to spike our blood glucose with high GI foods constantly throughout the day! When we force our body to consistently produce insulin, this signaling pathway gets tired... Enter Type 2 Diabetes... We think we just got sick. Luck of the draw. Genetics. 🤷♀ We don’t realise our body is just crying out for a BREAK from this constant glucose barrage!
So... we continue to feed it carbohydrates, and begin to medicate... Soon the symptoms return... we are clearly getting sicker, medication is increased... we continue to eat our carbs and lament our health... And so goes the cycle.
When all we really need to do is give our poor insulin signaling system a chance to rest, recover, and heal... We do this by removing almost all carbs, reducing our daily intake to 20g net a day... and when we stick with this measurement for long enough, if we made the change in time, we might even find that we are no longer sick... Yes, that’s right. T2D is reversible.
