➡️ Myth 1: “Lifting Makes You Bulky” ⤵️

Lifting makes you bulky if your intention is to make you bulky. You have to be eating lotsa calories, lifting 3+ times per week, andddd do that for a longggg ass time to get “bulky”
.
Trust me, I tried. It took 3 years of eating double wrapped burritos & maxing out on Deadlifts every day. But I finally got bulky.

Rather, for most humans, lifting weights will help you build some muscle. But as long as your nutrition is in order, you’re likely going to completely change how your body looks.

AKA build muscle & lose fat in the right areas. #Winning
.
➡️Myth 2: “Change your workout every day/week to CoNfUsE your muscles”
.
You know how to confuse your muscles & make them grow? Add more weight on the fucking bar OR do more reps.
.
You’re not playing hide & seek with Elon Musk. You don’t need to try something drastically new every time to win.
.
Aim to get better & stronger with similar movements week after week.
.
That’s how you make gains.
.
Not doing 4 sets of 27 reps for every exercise this week for the sake of “confusing your muscles”.

➡️Myth 3: “High Reps to tone & Low Reps to build” ⤵️
.
Muscle growth can happen from any rep range. High reps, low reps, medium reps, unbelievably stupid high reps.

High reps within a circuit or superset, along with being mindful of calories/conscious with nutrition may help you lose fat & build a lil bit of muscle (AKA tone).

But you can just as easily do that by lifting heavier weight for low reps & being conscious of nutrition.

You get toned by losing body fat & building some muscle. Not a certain rep range.

It’s safe to say that not only do I hold fat in my stomach and legs, but THESE CHEEKS BOI

I didn’t even realize until I put these pictures side by side how much of a change I’ve made to myself since my bulk. November 2018 was towards the end of my bulk, and March 2019 was just the beginning of my cut. Insane.

I’ve always had chubby cheeks anyway though. Keeps me looking young 👶🏼 But I just thought this was interesting and I wanted to show that everyone stores fat differently! Lucky me right? 😐

I cannot stress enough progress pictures are IMPORTANT!!! I was just feeling down about my recent plateau and these helped me SO much to see how far I’ve come ✨

LYME UPDATE 💚
Inmiddels ben ik een aantal weken gestopt met de antibiotica en voel ik mij langzaamaan steeds weer iets beter. De extreme vermoeidheid wordt steeds minder, mijn eetlust komt weer terug en ik ben weer 2,5kg aangekomen. Lichamelijk gaat het nog meh. Ik loop nog steeds niet makkelijk en ik heb nog pijntjes, maar als ik kijk naar een paar weken terug zit er wel vooruitgang in. Ik ga tegenwoordig naar een fysio voor bindweefsel massage en ik doe acupunctuur (dat was wel een dingetje met mijn naaldenfobie 😂) maar ik heb wel het idee dat er door die combinatie een lichte stijgende lijn in zit.

Vandaag was ik voor het eerst bij het Amsterdam UMC Multidisciplinair Lymecentrum voor een gesprek. De artsen daar kijken vanuit verschillende hoeken naar mijn situatie en hopelijk komen ze daar weer met nieuwe ideeën en inzichten 🤞🏻 Voor nu hebben ze wat kleine testjes gedaan en laten ze mijn bloed weer onderzoeken voordat ze met een plan komen. Ik ben benieuwd of dit iets gaat brengen. Heel eerlijk gezegd ben ik er wel een kleeeein beetje sceptisch over omdat ik wéét dat ik weer op antibiotica ga uitkomen. Maarja, dat zien we dan wel weer.

Binnenkort wil ik waarschijnlijk ook met een dieet van @medicalmedium beginnen nadat ik daar meerdere goede verhalen over heb gehoord. Ik denk dat ik dat wil uitproberen voordat ik weer aan de antibiotica moet. Hoe chill zou het zijn als dát hetgene is wat mij gaat helpen?! Ook daar ben ik nog wat sceptisch over (ik bedoel je weet maar nooit of het ook bij jou helpt) maar ik ben er wel heel nieuwsgierig naar, en ik zal er in ieder geval niet op achteruit gaan 🤷🏼‍♀️ Al met al.. zit er een stijgende lijn in. Ik ben weer meer mezelf en ik heb mijn strijdlust terug gevonden. Én ik heb geleerd dat het okee is om je af en toe gewoon K*T te voelen.

Even een special thanks to @foxgymfam voor het rekening houden met dat ik rustiger aan doe met werk, @rick_ipenburg voor het verzorgen en dealen met mijn 'buien' 👸🏼 en mijn klanten van @destinationfit.nl voor het accepteren dat ik tijdelijk op een wat lager pitje werk. No worries, dit duurt niet eeuwig. Ik kom -hoe cliché- beter en sterker terug!
