Reposted from @amberlylagomotivation - It ain’t easy but it’s possible....and so worth it!
I overdid everything in life so I didn’t have to feel. I numbed out shame by being an overachiever in school and getting the best grades, collecting first place ribbons in track, and later being an extreme athlete. But after a near death, devastating accident, I found myself stuck in a hospital bed having surgery after surgery (34 in total) and then diagnosed with #CRPS .
I couldn’t do anything of the things I did before to escape my feelings. I was stuck in them. I lost my career and my confidence. I became depressed and was hopeless. I started drinking to numb the pain and it worked....until it didn’t and no longer served me. I was completely desperate, hands trembling and wanted to be free from this life of hell so I stopped drinking and started praying.
By the Grace of God I got sober on 3/13/16. It’s not something I talk about a lot here on Instagram but I am here to love you through my stories and my experiences. If we share our experiences we have the opportunity to give hope, to heal, and to encourage.
So it hasn’t always been easy and I’m still growing and learning. But I ask you, is there something in your life that is no longer serving you?? Maybe you are a people pleaser? Maybe you are working too many hours and not getting enough sleep? Maybe you aren’t talking to yourself in a loving way, or maybe you are eating too much fast food instead of treating your body like a temple. Whatever it may be, I hope you summon up the courage to make the change. We only get one shot at this life and we may as well make it the best life ever!
I believe in you!
I love you!
