Do you know what happens when keto diet becomes mainstream? 
Person A does a ton of research, read all the books, and listened to all of the podcasts. They've gone through fat-adaptation and keto flu. They've learned how to get in the zone. It's taken them weeks, months, years to bio-hack their body into a fat burning state.  They see life changing results.

Person A touts this to others (as they rightfully should!). Person B, C, D all think "oh cool!  Keto". They don't read all the books, do the research, and end up finding some Atkin like version (read bacon and butter with no veggies or fake food-like crap that's carb free) and crash into yet another fad diet. It's short term.  It's going to come crashing down at some point. I've been that person... Most people don't have the will-power, perseverance and dedication as person A. 
Meanwhile, over here in the blue ocean we have the science and technology that allows ANYONE to bio-hack their way to the metabolic holy grail, the fat burning zone. And what happens?

Well, it opens the doors to the lifestyle that person A is in. It becomes a sustainable way to live. It's a gradual process, one where you're allowed for less than 100% perfection.  You find yourself changing your habits before your very eyes. 
People not grabbing for their 3rd soda in a day, forgoing the crap, declining the junk. 
All because their bodies are being fueled by what it prefers. Our body's are amazing machines and when we get a taste of what it should feel like we want more. More means giving up the crap.

Let’s chat about intermittent fasting! 
When I first heard about this topic, I immediately thought it sounded a little extreme... and that there was no way I could do it! 
First, what is it?! IF (intermittent fasting for short) is not a diet. It is a type of eating schedule. Quite literally, there are times of the day where I don’t eat, and times of the day where I eat. Your body is always in 1 of 2 states- it’s either fed or fasted. What IF works to do is extend that fasted (Not fed) state a little bit longer. Your body doesn’t actually enter that fasted state until 8-12 hours after you have finished your last meal.

So it means you don’t eat a lot of food, right?! Well, no actually- I eat a lot of food. I just confine all of my eating to an 8 hour window each day. So instead of waking up and immediately eating, I skip breakfast. I give my body time in digestive rest. 
What are the benefits and why even consider giving it a try?! IF has been shown to help reduce inflammation in the body...to lower cholesterol and blood pressure...to help reduce insulin resistance which lowers your chance of developing diabetes... there’s even evidence that shows IF helps protect against degenerative issues in the brain such as dementia! ... and so many more things. But the main reason we implement IF in the FASTer Way?! FAT LOSS! Yes ma’am... time in that digestive rest allows the body to tap in to those fat stores and burn fat for fuel! πŸŽ‰

I have to say, this BBQ Chicken Pizza πŸ• turned out pretty DANG good! Especially for gluten free, low carb HEALTHY PIZZA! 😍 Phoebe said it was PERFECT. I say *not quite* as good as the MIND-BLOWING GF pizza we got in NYC last Summer. πŸ˜‰ Sure it's not perfectly smooth like regular (carby flour) doughs, but it was a pleasant chewy texture, not dry or grainy, (like most gluten free baking can be). After mixing, rising, shaping, and baking the dough I topped it with garden tomato sauce, a handful of cheese, fresh peppers, green onions, and chicken that I tossed in tomato sauce, garlic, and vinegar. Baked again until golden, and then served with fresh tomatoes on top. It was FULL of flavor. The secret dough ingredient (psyllium husk powder) definitely leveled it up in texture and has the added benefit of extra fiber without the carbs, which you know equals FILLING as well as gut health benefits! πŸ’ͺ Healthier, low carb, gluten free baking is a learning curve for sure, but as a scientist with health goals, I have to admit I love the challenge! I'll definitely be putting this recipe on our regular monthly meal rotation!! πŸ‘

Back to the gym today after a one month hiatus. It feels awesome as always. I picked up on my Body Beast weight lifting routine, through which I am about halfway (six weeks before the break.)

I was surprised that I could not lift as much as I could a month ago. I realize I did not really believe I had been improving and getting stronger, when in fact I was. This realization motivates me more. Wow, 49 and still very able to workout, commit, and get stronger. I am very happy about this and look forward to future results. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Back to the gym today after a one month hiatus. It feels awesome as always. I picked up on my Body Beast weight lifting routine, through which I am about halfway (six weeks before the break.) β€’ I was surprised that I could not lift as much as I could a month ago. I realize I did not really believe I had been improving and getting stronger, when in fact I was. This realization motivates me more. Wow, 49 and still very able to workout, commit, and get stronger. Cabbage, crushed tomato, ground beef, mushrooms, onions, curcumin, chili powder, parsley,  garlic salt, 1 packet Stevia, red pepper flakes, black pepper and Kerrigold  butter...Once finished...add a little cream cheese...dont knock it until you try it...I know how to hook it up with lots of flavor...I love Cabbage!
