Hundreds of people urged the governor of Texas to stay the execution of convicted killer Rodney Reed during a stirring rally in Austin on Saturday.
Reed is scheduled to be executed on Nov. 20 in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Stacy Stites in 1996.
The 51-year-old Reed has maintained his innocence, and supporters believe new evidence raises serious questions about his guilt. “Will you stop this wrongful and painful execution of my son? If you don’t, then you are just as guilty of murder," Sandra Reed said just a few feet away from the residence of Gov. Greg Abbott, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. - 23 hours ago
