Almost exactly 5 years apart....going from lifting a slice of pizza (about 1.7 lbs) to lifting 318 times that this morning. (575 lbs) 
I like the change.

Another important movement that you want to incorporate into your workout routines are pushing movements (in either the vertical or horizontal plane). Here are 3 moves that you can try to include in your workouts.

💪🏽Assisted Push Ups (Horizontal Plane): find a pole (I like to attach the band to the smith machine and find the appropriate height) and wrap a big resistance loop around the pole and step inside. This will help ensure proper form even if you are not able to do a push up by yourself. I love this move because even though I can do push ups, I want to be able to do it correctly and this allows me to do so.

💪🏽Chest Press (Horizontal Plane): I prefer chest press on the bosu ball over a flat press on the floor. The best would be on a bench but sometimes all of them are taken. The bosu allows me to get the full range of motion with the movement. You want to make sure your elbows are relatively tight by your side so that the end position is your hand is hovering your chest. If your elbows are too far out then you’re going to feel it primarily in the shoulders.

💪🏽Shoulder Press (Vertical Plane): These are pretty self explanatory. Avoid momentum and use control when pressing up, going a little lower than 90 degrees with your elbows.

💪🏽Make sure that with these exercises that are you picking a challenging weight according to what your goals are. Some people tend to split their upper body with push/pull. These exercises would be apart of their “PUSH” routine. If you’re just starting out, I would suggest to not really worry about that and try to hit your primary muscles on upper body days (chest and back).
