3 photos taken a few minutes apart; to illustrate a point. The first photo has no effects, no filters, and I’m not wearing make up. The next two photos both have filters and tell very different stories. Regardless of any assumptions of what I’m expressing or feeling, only I really know what I was thinking or feeling.
What is my point? My point is we can never truly know what others are going through or how they feel. You may think you know, but you’re not them; and honestly don’t. Human emotions are complicated and rarely easy to explain even using biology or scientific terms. In my short almost 22 years of life, I have learned that it is very easy to be angry, impatient, rude, or cruel. It is much harder to be kind, loving, patient, understanding, supportive, and sincere. I believe this is because we are afraid of how we will be perceived or received.
I think as a society we need to relearn how to treat each other. The majority of what is wrong in the world would be solved if humans were better to each other. If we were better to our family, friends, kids, parents, boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, acquaintances, strangers, etc. then eventually the world would get better on its own. If we each took the time to listen to each other or to help people who are struggling, then little by little behaviors would change along with mindsets. If we bit our tongues more and took time to calm down, then tense situations wouldn’t end in heartache. If we were less selfish and more loving, then people wouldn’t feel so alone in a crowded room. We are all the problem, but we are all also the solution. We decide every day which we are going to be.
I felt like sharing my thoughts, thanks for reading.
