Tempo contrast is an extremely versatile training method, as there are so many ways you can program it. I've given an example of utilising a slow eccentric, but you can use pause reps, slow concentrics or any combination you'd like. You can also use this method with any rep scheme. -
How you utlisie this method is entirely up to you, and will greatly depend on what you want to achieve in your training. -
The benefits of tempo contrast can include:
- A means for progressive overload, as you are increasing the total time under tension (a key component for hypertrophy).
- It can help improve technique and quality of a movement.
- Mind muscle connection can also be improved due to the manipulation of tempo. - 12 minutes ago
