It’s been a busy couple of months! The last two days have been jam packed with the bare process wedding 101 in Toronto. A big thank you to all of the vendors that were apart of the team! I can’t wait to share more.

There is one more @bareprocess available this year in Tulum and only one seat available! Details can be found at www.bareprocess.com

My husband is still in school which often means I go places by myself in the fall. This is why I’m so excited that we’re headed to Tulum in November! Do you have any vacation plans coming up that you’re excited about?

I find that listening to music while I’m editing helps me focus which leads me to the question, if you could only listen to one song on repeat for the rest of your life what would it be? I was recently watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother, and their famous road trip episode where they just 500 miles on repeat. Cue the Montage! I recently learned that my husband really enjoys symphonies, specifically the Inception soundtrack. So that would probably be his. Comment below to tell me what you’d pick for your one and only road trip song!
.
Music and photography can have a lot in common. Both can invoke a sense of living, at least for me! Much like a symphony there are many components that go together to create a good project. For a recent branding project I had, there were 8 team members. Working together with experienced members of different fields can really bring out the best in yourself. By using all your team members effectively, it can work like a symphony. Everyone has a part to play, and the whole is only as good as the sum of its parts.

I shared some tips and tricks on mood boarding a few months ago, and many people were sad they missed it! So I guess I can share them again!
.
4 tips for effective mood boarding:
.
1. Have a goal, why are you mood boarding? What are you trying to accomplish?
.
2. Look for a story or a way to relate your ideas. I know it’s somewhat cliche to say tell a story, it is true though. However, this story doesn’t have to be literal, it can be anything from colour to a real story.
.
3. Keep your mood board simple. Sometimes people can overplan and this doesn’t allow for creative freedom. Allow members of your team to build their own ideas, setting distinct bounds on a plan might not let your idea fully grow.
.
4. Search for images that are outside of your genre, try something new! You may be inspired and create something you may not have thought about before. Don’t simply remake ideas that have already been done.

Every job has a different form of stress. For me there’s two times of year that I don’t particularly enjoy, first off is tax season (thank goodness that’s not for another half a year) and the second is editing season. It’s the time after the wedding season when you have all this content and it seems to pile up!
.
How do you manage your stress? I’ve been trying to find some different ways, let me know if you have any foolproof tricks? (I wish I was in one place long enough to have a puppy!) Whether it’s going to the gym, hanging out with friends and holding their babies, finding some treats or snacks that don’t end up becoming meals or just taking a day for myself, it’s hard to ignore that pile up! Life is all about balance and I’m still trying to perfect managing my time to make the most of it.

Shot for @acetatelaboite branding session. Planning an Instagram feed is a lot of hard work. Trust me, there’s a lot of work that goes into creating my feed. On my story today I’ll be giving 3 tips/steps on social media planning! Comment with your tips below.

I thought that when the summer was done I would actually have some time to not be on the road for a bit. I double checked my schedule and realized that I still have quite a few places that I’m going! Oh well maybe around Christmas time I can slow down, if only a little!
.
Here’s upcoming travel schedule: Toronto,Calgary, Vancouver, Salt Lake City/Provo, Big Sur, New York City, Saskatoon, Montreal and Tulum. Message me for dates if you’re interested.

We loved our time at the Villa Arjuna! Bali was a dream, you can find me searching for deals on the flights pretty frequently to go back! We spent our days there exploring beaches and eating at all the wonderful restaurants. It’s the perfect place for us. Shot for @theperfecthideaway

I love wedding days, always have. Since I was 5 years old I was planning my wedding day. I guess that’s a pretty good thing seeing as I was able to plan everything in 2 months! My wedding day was everything I wanted and I just loved this simplicity of it, we didn’t try to do too much and I remember spending time with my best friend and celebrating with the people who are closest to me. Plus, that dance party was awesome!

One of my favourite shots from @barebeauty___ ‘s branding session. I wanted to chat about film today. A lot of my couples know that I shoot film but they don’t fully understand all that goes behind that. I pull out this weird alien looking device and I promise I’m not taking samples! A light meter just helps me to match skin tones and helps so the film shots turn out the best that they can. What are some funny questions you have been asked shooting film?

From a session last month with @wilderfleur and @mothermusemag I’m in love with this series of images. Shot on 120mm with 400H. Processed by @photovisionprints
.
With this summer being so busy, there are just so many things to edit. I’ve learned that the thing that helps me get through those long editing sessions is to have multiple cuddle breaks throughout the day. So whether you snuggle up to your man, a cat, a dog, whatever you can find I promise that it helps!

People often ask me how Jordan and I met, and it’s a pretty interesting story. We were set up on a blind date, but the thing is this blind date was in Montana over the course of a weekend. It’s a good thing I’m always up for an adventure, because without him even telling me half the details I was in. I love jumping into things and when a unique opportunity presents itself I’m always up for something new. That was the start of non-stop adventure, and I’m sure glad I jumped!

A tool I use to help keep wedding days more organized is sending my brides a family grouping list a couple weeks before their day. This helps to make sure that I capture everyone who is important to them and helped them celebrate their special day. Sometimes you have so much support that it can be difficult to think of all the picture combinations you, as a couple, would want. My advice is to keep it simple and not worry about it too much, the pictures are for your memories and you’ll remember those who are closest to you.
