While up in Whistler this weekend for Cornucopia events, we stumbled across a special wild tasting menu at Alta Bistro. We just have one question: why did we wait so long to visit this place?! Food and service were both fantastic.
The locally sourced tasting menu included flavourful combinations in each dish - from wild boar bacon with steamed dungeness crab and pine mushroom custard in kombu consumme, to roasted ling cod and fried Humboldt squid. We supplemented with add-ons like fresh shaved pine mushroom, and a decadent elk tartar cannoli with chocolate vinaigrette and chicken liver parfait.
At $79 for a 5 course chef's tasting menu, it's reasonably priced enough that we can start planning our next visit soon.
