Today marks 2 years together. 🤯 Nearly 20,000 hours in each other’s presence - so many hours of hard work, of communication, of reflection, of having a mirror there at all times forcing you to be your best. But also sooo many hours of laughing, and adventuring, and exploring, and being so loving to each other, and feeling so seen and understood and accepted by each other that just being together feels like home. Every day with you is my favourite day ever and I’m so proud of us for how much work we’ve put in these past 2 years to make our relationship the most beautiful little bubble of radical honesty + unconditional love I could have ever imagined I would be lucky enough to find 🌈🥰✨ happy anniversary @jamesaspey !!

Celebrating this guy’s 33rd lap around the sun today. He leaves me in awe every day - of his kindness, thoughtfulness, sense of humour, open mind, and a sense of right and wrong that has him living so empathetically and connectedly it forces everyone around him to step up too. So overwhelmingly grateful to get to do life with this beautiful human and so proud of the crazy amount of good he constantly adds to this world. Happy birthday to my bestest friend & the man I fall more deeply in love with every day 💙 @jamesaspey

In 2015, I travelled to Australia all the way from Canada to study abroad for a semester. I was 19 and all by myself and it was one of the most magical, transformative 8 months of my life. There’s something about being back in Sydney that reminds me of that same delicious feeling of unlimited possibilities. Feeling so grateful for all the scary leaps I’ve been guided towards over the years that have created this perfect present moment & so happy to be back in Australia for the summer (or maybe longer this time!) 🙊✨🌞

Living vegan simply means that you try to avoid paying for animal exploitation wherever practical and possible. That’s it. It’s not radical. It’s not extreme. It’s not even that great. It’s just neutral. Simple math: The animals we use for food are sentient, which means they feel pain, are capable of suffering, and are distinct, conscious individuals just like the dogs and cats we grew up with. All animals enslaved in the animal agriculture industries end up at a slaughterhouse. They are forced into a place out of your wildest nightmares at a fraction of their natural lifespan, confused and terrified, just as alive as you and me, and they come out chopped into pieces. And since it’s 2019, and we can now get every single one of our essential nutrients easily from a wide variety of plants, that violence is actually entirely unnecessary. Not causing unnecessary harm should be the moral baseline. And revoking support for an industry that would have had slit the throats of these 5 week old babies as newborns (because the dairy industry can’t make a profit from male reproductive systems and considers the baby boys born to the mother cows - whose breastmilk you create a demand for - waste products) should be the obvious next step for any open-minded, rational, compassionate, unnecessary-violence-abhorring person. 🤷🏻‍♀️ What does your instinct tell you when you look at their faces? Prey upon, or protect? If we could live happy and healthy without harming others, why wouldn’t we?

Sure, maybe there’s such thing as a “nicer” way to end someone’s life against their will when it’s a matter of survival. But nowadays? When there’s not a single essential nutrient from animal products we can’t find in abundance in plant sources & we continue this violence not out of necessity but out of taste & habit? How could choosing to breed someone into existence, confine & enslave them, forcibly impregnate them, steal their children from them, and then slit their throat & chop their body up into pieces EVER be considered “humane” - at a time when there’s another path to walk, right there in front of us, called veganism? You’re being manipulated. Organic, local, free range, cage free, “humanely” raised - all marketing tag words. Do you truly want to continue being a pawn in the animal agriculture industry’s profit-making game? Or are you coming to realize you’d rather live in alignment with your values & vote with your dollar for a world in which sentient beings are not treated as property? Every time you pick up that carton of eggs at the supermarket or order cheese at that restaurant - you are paying for an animal to be sent to a slaughterhouse to have their throat slit against their will. No way around it. No such thing as it being done “humanely” at a time in history when it’s no longer a necessity. You’ve been duped. And now you know better. Are you going to do better? 🤔🌱

Beans, veggies, grains. So many ways to mix it up but those are the staples of my ideal second meal of the day! 😋 I like to keep it simple in the morning with oats or a smoothie bowl or just a huge plate of fruit, and then for din ideally I’m having whatever else needs to be checked off from the @nutrition_facts_org #DailyDozen (it’s a free app created by the world’s leading nutrition scientists that I like to use to make sure I’m hitting all my essential nutrients every day). The list consists of beans, grains, leafy greens, veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds, spices (especially turmeric!), water, exercise, and supplements (I take B12, DHA from algae, and CBD oil). 🍎🍑🍌🥦🍇 Sticking to a whole foods plant based diet & making a choice to no longer support animal agriculture is the most far-reaching choice you can make to prevent and reverse chronic disease, eliminate your contribution to the leading cause of climate change, and, most importantly, revoke your support from an industry that (completely unnecessarily) breeds into existence & violently ends the lives of 8 billion (!) sentient beings every single day. 🐔🔪 The vegan community is full of millions of incredible people happy to help you on your journey however they can - join vegan Facebook groups local to your area, follow vegan food hashtags, reach out for help if you need it (my DMs are always open!), or sign up for a free challenge that’ll arm you with recipes & tips like @weareveganuary or @_challenge22_ or the @physicianscommittee 21 day vegan kickstart! The research is out there & the power is in your hands - what are you waiting for? 🤗🌱

It’s my mama bear’s bday! 🥰 I took this photo last week after we got up at 1:30am to hike a volcano to watch the sunrise from the top of it. The fact that she planned that little excursion for us & had not one complaint the whole way up just about summarizes the kind of person she is - ridiculously adventurous and fun, the most positive and optimistic person I know (tied only with James 😂), and constantly managing to fill her life and the lives of those she loves with excitement, wonder, and sooo much love. I’m constantly in awe of how much happiness she has radiating out of her 24/7, and I’m so grateful to be able to call someone so wise & beautiful my mama!! I know she wishes her daughter wasn’t living halfway around the world, but to see how unconditionally loving & supportive she’s been over the last couple years since I left home has meant so much to me, and has made the time we do get to spend together so much more special. Love you with all my heart!!!! 😍🥳💞

Been practicing my ukulele skills for my 30 min set at the @vegancampout next month - anyone else in the habit of saying yes to scary-sounding opportunities & then later wondering what the heck you were thinking?! 😜 I’m a bit nervous to sing in front of so many people but also so honoured & excited to have been asked to perform!! I’m looking forward to getting to meet so many of y’all there! 🎤🥰 We also have a very special announcement coming soon involving something we’ve been working on that you’ll get to see in person at our booth at the festival, details comin soon - get excited!!! 👀👕🧐🌎♻️

I’ve been in a rabbit hole of research lately + I’m blown away by how many resources we waste/how much trash we produce creating new items (especially clothing!) when we already have sooo much great stuff floating around in our communities that can be swapped + shared instead! 🤯

I love this graphic because it highlights a way of living that has been resonating so hard for me lately - instead of getting sucked into consumerism’s grasp every time we see something new & shiny, it’s worth taking a moment to step back and ask questions like: Do I really need this? Where did it come from? Were the people involved in its production treated fairly? What kind of practices am I supporting by purchasing it? Can I borrow it? Or find it secondhand, instead of buying it new? Or if it’s something I need to buy new, maybe I can save up for a higher quality, more ethically made option that will last me longer? 🤔

One of the easiest ways I’ve found to avoid buying new is to see if what you’re looking for is already available in your local community. One of my fav apps for this (@bunz_official) has taken this one step further + removed money from the equation, meaning the whole system works on swapping/trading. They also have their own trading currency (so points on the app you receive for giving away stuff you don’t need anymore) that can be redeemed at certain establishments around the world. It’s basically just a great (free!) app to add to your eco warrior toolkit + is definitely worth the download. 💚

Grateful for tools like this + for everyone who is utilizing them. We’ve gotten ourselves into a bit of a mess with this whole climate change thing, but we really do have time to turn it all around. We’re so lucky to have so many alternatives to buying new things and creating more waste + there’s never been a more important time to be a conscious consumer. 🌎 #bunzlove
