"Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh;
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky. .."
We used to sing this hymn (by Sabine Baring-Gould) at the end of the school day, gathered in the assembly ground of my Secondary school. We would mutter the lines and the prayer at the end as quickly as we could, so eager to run off. 'Boarding-students' were probably wondering what they would be having for lunch while 'day-students' couldn't wait to get back home.
It was the "mark" that school was over, at least for the day.
I sang it last night, and the meaning to me, isn't quite the same as what it used to be.
now the day is over
blink twice and the day is over. The week is over, and this year is almost over.
Time is always moving forward and it appears life is but a fleeting moment.
《Start - It is NOT too early. It is NOT too late.》 My question is;
What do you really want to do? . ..and why are you NOT doing it? 🤔
