Fun morning at @atsapproved for some lifting and a little bit of #rwc2019 .
#streamofconsciousness blurb coming re: training
I'm at a bit of an impasse in my training and I'm not really sure what to do.
I have too much going on elsewhere in life to think about competitive powerlifting for the forseeable. It's hard to find motivation to go through the punishment of lifting serious weights with no real goal at the end of it. It's nice not having constant low level soreness in my knees, hips and shoulders. Plus a diet of SBD gets boring real quick when you don't have specific goals for those lifts.
I'm also enjoying a more diverse range of exercise - cycling, walking, would like to try some climbing. I'd be nice to drop a few kg too and not have to worry about strength loss.
But I enjoy lifting and I like the community aspect. It's weird knowing that I'm not as strong as I was, even if I'm a little fitter. It's hard to step back.
I guess what I'm really looking for right now is to lift weights a couple of hours a week to maintain a base level of strength and muscle mass, in a way that's fun and interesting. All the while allowing me to explore some other sports and not worry too much about either thing negatively affecting the other.
Am I chasing a unicorn? 🦄 🤔
