Ain’t Too Proud To Meg

𝗠𝗲𝗴 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗻, Food Stylist sharing tips to make beautiful boards for every occasion. Show off yours using #AintTooProudToCheese & #AintTooProudToSweet

1️⃣, 2️⃣, 3️⃣, 4️⃣ or 5️⃣? In honor of THE EMMY’s, what is your favorite TV-themed board?
1️⃣ Fire & Ice Board for “Game of Thrones”
2️⃣ Blesses BRIE the Fruit Board for “Handmaids Tale”
3️⃣ FIG Little Lies Board for “Big Little Lies”
4️⃣ Shark Week Board
5️⃣ EMMY-themed Board

I need to make more TV Boards. Off the cuff, I’m thinking....
“Dead to BRIE,” “Blue-ish (with lots of blue cheeses for “Black-ish”), “Sharp (Cheddar) Objects,” “Blue Detective.” Lmk if you have any ideas 😁

Okay, what are the first TWO things you’d grab from these boards? REMINDER: it’s the last day to enter the @crateandbarrel GIVEAWAY to win the THIS wood board (on the right), a set of these cheese knives & a huge, curated box of cheese + all the fixins’. Go two posts back to enter. 📷: @yogaofcooking

PS- I’d grab a fig and spread the Harbison 🧀 all over it! #AintTooProudToCheese

Photo 1️⃣ or 2️⃣??? Which set up do you like best? I tried the EMMY COOKIES from @stacyscookielounge all over the board (1️⃣) and just at the top (2️⃣). VOTE in the comments b/c I can’t decide 🤷‍♀️⬇️ This is my BLACK TIE - EMMY BOARD. I wanted it to be sweet and savory but it ended up more like a dessert cheese board (b/c well... cheese, fruit & chocolate is my fave combo). Head on over to IG STORIES for a little more on how it came together, including a POLL on whether or not you like the TJ’s chocolate hummus, seen here. If you have any options on the choc hummus, let me know here too. I loved it, but other people say they can taste the chickpeas 😝

This board PLUS wooden spoons and knives available in my amazon “CHEESE BOARD STARTER KIT.” Link in bio.

Might be the “least perfect” platter I’ve posted to IG, but given your awesome responses to Friday’s TAKE-OUT DINNER BOARD on Stories, I’m adding it on HIGHLIGHTS and answering your FAQ’s here. As a recap, most of the items were from a local Mediterranean restaurant (kebobs, rice, salad, hummus, baba ganoush) because none of us wanted to cook. The rest were items from Trader Joe’s (dolmas, carrots, cucumbers, flatbread, grapes, olives and lemons for garnish). SWIPE to see the “before” takeout pics and ICYMI, head on over to Highlights to see how it came together.
It served 4 people with tons of leftovers (half the protein was eaten, half the dolmas, and lots of olives were left behind). This could easily feed 6-7, depending on the guests. And I only added half the takeout rice to the board, but there was more if needed. It took about 10 minutes to put together. And, lastly, for those who asked about the dessert board and the chocolate hummus: 3 of 4 girls loved it. One wasn’t into it.
Soooo... would you make a takeout board? What kind of takeout should I do next? #CheeseBoardingSchool #BoardsforDinner

FULL DISCLOSURE: I don’t cook!!! Yet, I love to entertain. So... building boards has always been my way of pulling the wool over people’s eyes. Guests arrive and see something beautiful & delicious and don’t think twice about the fact that it requires no cooking at all. And, even better, if you want to serve an actual meal, just order TAKE OUT and make it look pretty. No joke!! Thats what I’m doing tomorrow night when my girlfriends come over for Mediterranean food (kebabs, hummus, etc). I’ll order in advance and plate it for everyone to enjoy (similar to this photo here). Note, the goal is not to fool anyone (though you could)... for me, it’s all about THE ART OF PRESENTATION. Making your guests feel excited to come over and enjoy. My girls know very well where the food is coming from, but they’ll probably feel a little more loved if I serve it on a platter vs styrofoam.
What do you think? Anyone else up for this entertaining HACK? PS- no judgement if you serve out of styrofoam- we all deserve shortcuts in life! PPS- I’ll share some updates on how it comes together on STORIES tomorrow. 📷: @yogaofcooking

🎃 You voted on Stories yesterday and it turns out you all prefer “BOARDS WITH GOURDS” to “PUT A PUMPKIN ON IT.” 🎃 Either way, it’s a simple way to make your fall boards extra festive. And if you don’t know what to do with it, just place it in the middle of the board and build around it. It will look great on cheese boards and sweet boards alike! Be sure to tag me so I can see yours. So... should we make the #BoardsWithGourds hashtag a thing??? #AintTooProudToCheese

TRUTH TIME: Cheese boards don’t have to be overly styled! I realize that’s what I do most of the time on here (& some of my boards can be pretty darn elaborate), but it’s simply because I love the art of presentation. ALL THAT SAID, you can make an impressive board on something as simple as a cookie sheet with a few quality cheeses & specialty items, like this one I enjoyed from @cheeseandcrack in Portland this weekend.
SWIPE for un-labeled version and a look at “baby’s 1st cheese board.” #CheeseBoardingSchool #AintTooProudToCheese

🍁BOARDS WITH GOURDS🎃 You asked for it... labels for the items from the last video (SWIPE TO SEE). The two items I received the most questions about were the Parmesan Crisps (top, middle) and the Mimolette (orange cheese on the bottom, right). This might gross you out, but FUN FACT about Mimolette: Microscopic bugs called cheese mites are responsible for giving its distinctive rind and flavor. The mites munch on the rind for a few years and then are removed before it’s sold. Soooo... WOULD YOU STILL TRY IT??? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ OR🙅‍♀️🙅‍♂️
Both the Parmesan crisps and the Mimolette are delicious and tend to be a little bit of a splurge, but funny enough, both are available via Amazon so I’ve posted links on STORIES in case you want to check them out. #BoardsWithGourds

Took a poll on STORIES today and 85% of you said it’s “NEVER TOO SOON” for Halloween board inspo! 😂😂😂 So with that, I’m sharing the first “Put a Pumpkin on it” of the season (I.e. the easiest way to transition your boards into fall). 🎃 Then, in December, I like to “Put a Pomegranate on it.” Simple and effective. For now, expect to see more “boards with gourds” and plenty of Fall colors (Orange and red are key). What do you think? Too soon? Did I jump the gun here??? #BoardsWithGourds

Red, white & BRIE! One last piece of LABOR DAY board inspo to cap off the holiday weekend! 🍓🧀💙 To create the star, just use a cookie cutter to cut into the brie. Fill the “holed” side with pomegranate seeds to make the star pop. Then take the actual star shape and lay it down on a small dish and surround it with the same pomegranate seeds. Blueberries would work too. Anything small enough to fill in the holes without being too big. I’ll link to 🌟 cookie cutters on STORIES. They’ll be perfect for Xmas boards too. #AintTooProudToCheese #CheeseBoardingSchool
