I’ve been recently LOVING a good back workout...honestly may be up there with a good leg day 🤭 These are my recent favorite exercises to target your back! ⁣

1️⃣ ISO-lateral low row 3x10⁣

About a week ago I was in Tennessee with the whole fam bam. 🧡 It was the first time I had been back since helping my little sis move into school a little over year ago. Being back there really got me thinking about where I was a year ago, the things I used to worry so much about that no longer consume my mind. The stress of what this year would look like, the things I thought I would never accomplish, but did. ⁣

I feel like it’s a beautiful reminder that your entire life can really change in a year. And through it all you miraculously continue to grow. 🦋

No weights are need for this one, but just yo body! BUT if you want to amp up your workout you can add some in! No one told me they lock up the weights in the studio at LA fitness 😂😅 so your girl had to get creative! HAPPY SWEATING! ⁣⁣

1. Squat holds - hold a squat, lower, and repeat! ⁣⁣
2. Step toe taps ⁣⁣
3. Step ups ⁣⁣
4. Rotating lunges ⁣⁣
5. Prison lunges - you could tell I kept messing up on these 🤪 but hey I tried 😂⁣⁣
6. V-ups ⁣⁣

Who’s ready to have a good day? 🙋🏼‍♀️ I woke up this morning to see that @surfacesmusic dropped a new single called “good day” and it really started my Friday off right! 🌟⁣⁣⁣

This weeks been a busy one... I feel like we all have THOSE weeks 🙃 but when things get a little hectic I like to stop, take a minute to myself, and list out all the good things I got going on in my life, just to get back into a positive mindset. So here it goes:⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
1. Of course the obvious: my favorite band dropped another song! I’m about to listen to it on repeat now.⁣⁣⁣⁣
2. My @alaninutrition pre-workout came in the mail and I CAN’T WAIT to try it before my workout today.⁣⁣⁣⁣
3. The bootcamp class at LA Fitness has become my FAVORITE class ever! The people that go have all became my little fit fam and the instructor is the coolest guy out there.⁣⁣⁣⁣
4. I’ve lost 5 pounds since getting back on track 👊even bae has joined me on this journey. It’s nice to have a buddy! ⁣⁣(although I’m jelly of all the people bulking rn - I’m cutting first but I’ll get there) ⁣⁣
5. I finally have some downtime this weekend to film and edit some IGTV and YT videos. Yay! I’ve been needing a creative outlet. ⁣If you have any video ideas lmk down below. 👇⁣⁣⁣

Weight loss journey update:⁣
⁣
I haven’t lost a single pound in the last couple months (really since moving) and honestly... I’m so okay with that! My weight has been fluctuating between 155lbs and 159lbs. I’m not at my goal quite yet, but it’s funny because I know old me would have freaked and me now is just enjoying where my body is at and recognizing that I’ve come a long freaking way - I deserve to celebrate that. I just feel so DANG GOOD about my body...for the first time in a long time. I’m happy with where I’m at and that’s more than I could ask for! Now it’s not to say I won’t one day reach my goal or adjust where I want my goal to be...but for now I’m content.⁣

I feel like a lot people who embark on weight loss or even weight gain journeys get so wrapped up in the progression and forget to enjoy their bodies throughout the process. Remember that it is equally as important to love your body through all its phases. I promise the journey will be that much better. 🌟

Wow it feels weird posting a workout video...it’s certainly long overdue 😅 I filmed this one at my new gym and was feeling SUPER inspired...there was so much machinery at LA fitness that I’ve never seen before, along with so many different exercises I saw people doing! TBH I got this first move from the person working out next to me! Shoutout to that dude 😂🙌...but really I feel like every time I go, I learn something new and I love it! - I’m also going to a boot camp class tonight that babe wants to go to! Honestly regretting saying yes to going (maybe I’m just a little nervy) but maybe I’ll feel different after! Wish me luck...I’m going to need it 🙃⁣⁣

Today I went back to my roots and did a swim workout. I grew up swimming competitively from elementary school up until college. I’ve since ‘retired’ and tbh I miss it so much. I will say I’m not in ‘swim shape’ like I used to be but it felt so dang good to be back in the water. 🧜‍♀️ ⁣Bae (@dirtyd193) grew up swimming too so he joined me! ⁣

For anyone looking for a different type of workout - I highly recommend hoping in the pool. Here’s what I did today, just a quick 30 minute beginners workout:⁣

1 x 100 freestyle ⁣
2 x 50 of each stroke (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke & freestyle)⁣
1 x 100 IM (1 lap of each stroke) ⁣
1 x 200 IM (2 laps of each stroke)⁣
2 x 50 w/kick board of each stroke (fly, back, breast & free) ⁣
1 x 200 free⁣
⁣
Cheat sheet:⁣
25 meters/yards = 1 lap⁣
50 meters/yards = 2 laps ⁣
75 meters/yards = 3 laps⁣
100 meters / yards = 4 laps ⁣
and so on...⁣

Little life update: I joined a gym 🥳 I wasn’t going to get a gym membership since my work has a mini gym...BUT I really missed having a place to go outside of the everyday things of life.⁣⁣

I got a membership at LA Fitness and I LOVE it! 🥰 I’ve been mixing up my workout split and incorporating new types of workouts. Me and babe even went to a kickboxing class this morning and swam afterwards! I honestly feel more motivated than ever! I will still use the gym at work every now and then. I’m just excited to switch things up!

Things have crazy busy since moving to Chicago AND I’ve had little time  to squeeze 🍋 in workouts...it hasn’t been the easy, but I feel like I’m starting to establish a routine. 🌈 I’m just taking things slow and trying not to think of working out as chore, but rather something to look forward to, a time where I can focus solely on the movement of my body, and me. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Hi babies! Today’s the day! I’m all packed and ready to make my way to Chicago. 😱 I would be lying if I said I didn’t cry my eyes out saying my goodbyes this past week. 😭 It feels like yesterday that I moved to STL to finish school. I remember being so worried, thinking I would never be happy here or make friends...boy was I wrong! I made some of the most amazing friendships I have ever had in my entire life and as well as amazing memories. ⁣

I wish I would have just trusted the process, but that’s what I’m going to do this time and lean in. Change can be beautiful and scary all at the same time, but it’s nothing to be afraid of! Here’s to the new adventures and embracing the uncertainties! 💫 ps. My workout today with me lifting all that heavy furniture. 💪

For those of you who don’t already know, I moved from Chicago ➡️ St. Louis to finish school. I’ve been done with school for a little over a year now and decided it’s time to head back (especially because that means no more long distance with D’Angelo 🙏🏼). Of course I am a little nervous of all changes that are in order and leaving STL will be hard 😭 but I am really looking forward to this next chapter. Moving vlogs soon to come! 🚚📦💕 ⁣⁣⁣⁣

The way you speak to yourself matters! 🤭⁣⁣

Growing up, anytime I would say something negative about myself my mom would stop me 🛑✋and say “would you say that to a friend?” My answer was always no and she would counter with “then why would you say something so hurtful to yourself?” ⁣⁣

And she was right...as most moms tend to be (much love to my mama 💕) we really wouldn’t say most of the nasty things to a friend that we say to ourselves, so why do we continue to do so?⁣⁣ I encourage you next time you look in the mirror to remember to show yourself the same love and respect as you would to a friend. Try giving yourself at least one  compliment, it will go a long way! 😘⁣

FULL BODY STRETCH 🧘‍♀️🌻⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

This past week has been crrazzzyyy busy, which is why I haven’t been posting as much! ⁣⁣I feel like we all have those kind of weeks. BUT throughout all the busyness, I’ve found doing daily stretches has helped to get my body moving (especially when I can’t fit in a full workout) and give me a little breather. It also has helped me keep a sense of stability and a routine.⁣ 👍🏼⁣
